Have you felt uneasy lately? All we have to do is turn on the news or social media, and most of us quickly start to feel like the world is a very unsettling place.
In this season of general anxiety, I would love to give you a scripture that is timeless. Ephesians 6 says this: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
We are in times where whatever political persuasion you have, or whatever you believe, there is an opposite spirit coming. As long as there is a devil on the planet, there is a war between love and fear. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, it’s against powers and principalities.
I would like to encourage you that since time began there has always been good vs evil. It has always been a good and evil battle. A life and death battle, in fact. But I have good news for you – Jesus has the ultimate victory! He is the resurrection life. His love casts out fear. His light displaces the darkness.
What we need to do is this: we must focus on Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. When we recognize that we’re not battling against the news, the politicians or this side or that side and that there really is a spiritual battle happening, it will actually give us more peace.
Paul writes in Philippians that Jesus will give us the peace that surpasses all understanding. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:7. Ultimately, that’s what we are all looking for – we are looking for peace in these times of anxiety. His promise to us is that we can find it if we go to our secret place with the Lord, whether that’s out in nature or in our prayer closet. In these times it is ever more important that we take time to just be with God. Get into His presence and ask Him to take any anxiety you are feeling. When we stay connected to God, His voice of peace and love silences the voices of anxiety and fear.
Take an inventory of your life and create some space from anything that is not bringing you peace. Do not give the devil a foothold in your life and mind, and take a break from the things that are open doors in your heart to that foothold! Some are fasting from the news, some are fasting from social media – because they are not bringing peace. Do everything you can to find peace and do everything you can to find the Lord in these times of anxiety. The Lord is on the throne. The Lord is in control of this country and this world. He is with you and He is for you.
God wants to meet us in our times of anxiety and bring us His everlasting peace. How are you finding the peace that surpasses the world’s understanding in this time?
I find peace, by simply pausing for a few minutes during my day. i just make my self become aware of how loved I am of the Father, and that brings thoughts that He is for me. I meditate that the value of all i am and can be is not based on me. It is based on what I believe the Father believes FOR me.
Such keys to connecting with the peace and truth of our Father. Thanks so much for sharing Craig! Blessings to you!
